COMPOSITION
N°5 Eau de Parfum draws inspiration from the Parfum, which shares the same aldehydic floral signature. This floral bouquet, composed around rose and jasmine, features bright citrus top notes. Aldehydes give the fragrance a unique presence, and a smooth touch of vanilla creates an incredibly sensual trail.
INSPIRATION
In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel called upon Ernest Beaux to create a rare and powerful “woman’s perfume with a woman’s scent.” The Perfumer-Creator presented her with a visionary composition that made unprecedented use of aldehydes. Mademoiselle chose the fifth sample of the fragrance and decided to simply name it N°5. For this new fragrance, she selected a bottle with a revolutionary design, adorned with a white label and topped with a faceted cabochon. In 1986, Jacques Polge, who had been the Perfumer-Creator for CHANEL since 1978, reinterpreted his predecessor’s composition to create a fuller version of N°5: the Eau de Parfum.
ART OF PERFUMING
Spray N°5 Eau de Parfum on the skin or inside clothing in a broad sweeping motion. The fragrance can be worn around the neck like a string of pearls: a spritz on the left, then on the right, ending on the nape of the neck, under the hair.
